'12 Days of Christmas Fitness // day 10 // Body & Soul® Fitness'

'Our 12 Days of Christmas Fitness is a great way to keep your workout routine interesting and your Christmas season purposeful. This is a great option to stay motivated during the holidays while meditating on the REAL meaning of Christmas. Best of all it\'s FREE! That\'s right. It\'s our gift to you this Christmas. This routine is choreographed to \"Hope was Born this Night\" by Sidewalk Prophets and consists of strength training: standing abdominals strengthening/core training. Today\'s fitness tip: The abdominal strengthening that happens during this song might surprise you. As you stand tall and perform the Knee Swing, you are recruiting your rectus abdominus which is located in the center of your abdomen. When you Cross Crawl and rotate, your obliques are challenged, and they assist you in moving diagonally and on an angle. Most of real life operates here! Then finally, not only does your transverse abdominus muscles that run across from one hip bone to the other become stronger as you rotate side to side, your quadratus contracts during the side lean crunch exercise. You don’t have to memorize these muscle names – just remember to consciously engage your core as you train your abdominals for greater strength and stability.'
