'WearOS: How To Track Exercise / Fitness Routine With Moto360'

Posted Jun 9, 2022

'What is going on everyone? Leon checkin’ in and we are at it again with another video. In today’s video we are going to talk about WearOS and how to track your fitness (Exercise, sets, reps, weight, rest period, BPM). Before I purchased my WearOS device, a Moto360, I recorded my metrics in Google Docs. Now this worked fine, but it wasn’t passive. Now WearOS simplifies tracking by automatically detecting and learning your fitness routine: Exercises, sets, reps, weight, rest periods & BPM. This means less time recording metrics and more time focusing on training. Additionally, WearOS, automatically imports all metrics into the GoogleFit app. This means training metrics are placed in the same location as other fitness data, right where you want it to be. The goal of this video is to demonstrate how this works and help you to answer one question: “Is a smartwatch worth it?” All things said, let’s go ahead… And get into it! ACCESSING WORKOUT SCREEN So here we are with the Moto360 To start things off, we have to access the workout screen first. This is going to depend on how you have your tiles set up on your WearOS device. For me, I swipe a few times until I get to the Workout screen. THE WORKOUT SCREEN The workout screen displays the amount of workouts you completed for the week, recent exercises, and a menu icon for tracking a new training routine. FINDING AND SELECTING STRENGTH TRAINING Strength Training is the option you want to select if you are looking to track your exercises, sets, reps, weight and rest. To start, select the menu icon. Then look for Other Workouts and click on this. I actually have Strength Training saved in my recents but wanted to search manually so you can see how long the training list is in WearOS. All exercise options are alphabetized, so Strength Training will be towards the end of the list. Once found, click on it. This brings us to the Start Screen. Here we can edit our rest period in intervals of 30 seconds or turn off the rest. To start an exercise, simply tap start. Every time you hit start for strength training, WearOS attempts to detect the exercise and reps and this counts as 1 set. To complete the set, tap Stop. INCORRECT EXERCISE, REPS AND WEIGHT If the metrics are incorrect, we can change them manually. Let’s start by clicking on the exercise name. WearOS gives us exercise suggestions, the ability to add a new exercise or we can scroll through a list of exercises. Once our exercise is selected, we can edit our reps or weight with left or right swipes. Once the data is entered, we can scroll down. Our next options are Save Set, Delete Set or Save and Exit. Saving the set allows us to continue on with more sets while saving and exiting allows us to exit that exercise and start a new exercise. EXERCISE NOT DETECTED If the exercise was not detected, we can add a manual set by tapping Add Manual Set. We can either add an exercise from the list of exercises, or add a new exercise if it’s not on the list. Once we have selected an exercise, we can edit the reps and weight with left or right swipes. Again, our options are Saving Set, Deleting Set & Save & Exit RESULTS IN GOOGLE FIT So let’s talk about finding the recorded metrics in the Google Fit app on your smartphone. Now this is where WearOS syncs flawlessly with your smartphone. Open the Google Fit App. At the bottom of the app are three options labeled Home, Journal & Profile. Click on Journal. Simply scroll to the date and time you performed your activity. Look for the respective title and exercise icon and click on it. Clicking on the item brings up a new page with the training statistics. W∆TCH, L3ARN, PL∆Y... TO6ETH3R!
