'Split Squat Exercise Variations'

'The split squat is a popular exercise used primarily for developing strength and control in your legs. Unlike the basic squat pattern which focuses on bilateral strength, the split squat is used for the purpose of emphasizing unilateral leg strength. Like squats and lunges, split squats will place primary emphasis on the strength of the glutes, and quadriceps muscles, while also activating the hamstrings to a lesser degree. As the video shows, the split squat is one of the most versatile exercises you can perform. It has a wide variety of variations, so whether you are a beginner or advanced, have variable access to equipment, or are just looking for a new exercise to mix it up, there is a split squat variation for you. Need assistance due to lack of strength or reduced balance? Want to increase the challenge by moving through more range of motion? Are you looking to focus on balance? Do you only have access to dumbbells? Check out the video for different split squat variations as well as considerations for different weights and load placement.
