'Richard Simmons reportedly leaves his Beverly Hills home in disguise The fitness guru — who was said to have disappeared from the public eye three years ago — has actually been making his way outside, but in various disguises, TMZ reports. Simmons reportedly does leave his Hollywood Hills mansion — sometimes in something as simple as a hat and casual clothes, while other times he\'s using a cane, according to the gossip site. The looks are reportedly good enough that no one has noticed him out in public, even in somewhere as busy as the Beverly Center shopping mall near his home. The star is using the cane after a knee injury and reportedly appears to have gained weight. On Tuesday, Simmons was hospitalized for \"severe indigestion,\" but was expected to make a full recovery. He was previously hospitalized last June for \"bizarre\" behavior, but he took to Facebook to attribute the short stint to dehydration. News of his reclusive behavior became well-known after the Daily News published an investigative piece in March 2016 with friends and former colleagues voicing their concerns about his lifestyle. I feel that Richard is now being controlled by the very people that he controlled his whole life,\" Mauro Oliviera, Simmons\' former masseur and assistant, told The News. \"Controlled in the sense that they are taking advantage of his weak mental state. Controlled in the sense that they are controlling his mail, controlling his everything. His brother, the manager and Teresa. Those three people.\" After the report went viral, Simmons conducted a phone interview on \"Today,\" where he said he was doing just fine and \"not going anywhere.\" However, he\'s yet to make any public appearance since. Simmons\' brother Lenny told Us Magazine last month that there\'s nothing to worry about and his brother just needed time to himself. \"My brother certainly deserves his vacation,\" Lenny told Us. \"I certainly cannot fault him for wanting to do that.\" The \"Sweating to the Oldies\" star has also become the subject of the podcast \"Missing Richard Simmons,\" which dissects what has happened to the mogul since disappearing from the public eye.'
